Small Victories

We are at home, dismissed from Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. It's funny to celebrate something like that because we know that it won't be long before we have another hospital stay. In fact, our doctors have said that for the next 3 years we need to have a hospital bag packed at all times.

But you still celebrate, don't you? One moment at a time? One victory at a time? That seems to be what Joshua does, and maybe even how Jesus would want us to live. We have often wondered how you can possibly live in such a way where you do not worry about tomorrow because today has enough worries of its own. Perhaps the answer is to be fully engaged in the moment - the present - even though you anticipate the struggles that will come. This is a good moment.

While you celebrate in the present with us, would you please pray towards the future, too? Friday is another bone marrow test, and the magic number is 5%. We are asking the Lord that Joshua's leukemia cells be less than 5% of his blood cells. If that is the case, he will be classified as an early responder to treatment. We hope to celebrate the moment again on Friday with you.

Grace and peace.

You are in my prayers and the prayers of everyone I know. Thanks for allowing us to pray along side of you. God definitely hears the prayers of His people. We will continue to pray specifically for the tests on Friday. I miss all of you but know I think of you daily and pray for you more.

Hey guys,
God is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Remember, 1/3 of ALL OF THE ministry that Jesus did was healing!!! He NEVER once came and said, "I make you sick." Satan is the one that comes to kill, steal and destroy! "I have come to give life, and give it to the FULL!!!!" So, I'm praying & declaring HEALING in Jesus' Name!!! David Dietz

Michael and Janna,

You are right about living each day to the fullest. An old southern gospel song says it about as well as I have heard it. "Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand. But I know Who holds tomorrow, and I know who holds my hand." He truly does, and will always. Still praying for you and adding prayer warriors daily.

Michael, Jana, and Joshua, you are all in our prayers. God's power to work through our struggles continues to amaze me even as I constantly worry as if I thought He didn't hear me and already know my needs. Your lives are being touched in a way none of us can understand right now, but God IS in control and He will take care of you and heal Joshua. Michael and Jana, if you can take a little time away sometime, go see Facing The Giants--it is an awesome reminder of God's faithfulness and the movie is so uplifting. It will give you a smile and courage for the journey.

Jana and family-
Diane DeLuna-Nemecek here...We heard from Brad and Amy about Joshua and along with the countless others, you are all in our thoughts and prayers. We have added you to the prayer request at church as well. I have not seen you in ages, however it seems like yesterday. Hard to believe you are all grown up and facing these difficult challenges. The Lord will guide you and provide strength to each of you through this journey. We have had 2 close families struggle with beating Leukemia and both have WON! Gracie and Collin are healthy, strong children and have been blessed by God's healing hand. We are HUGE supporters of the National Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and recently walked in Charleston and Myrtle Beach. Visit LIGHTTHENIGHT.ORG for details on contributing or walking. Most have taken place by now, however you can always make contributions. Please know that when they reschedule the walk in VA, we will walk with a balloon for Grace, Collin AND JOSHUA. Much love to you all!

Michael Jana & Joshua,
Thank you for being vulnerable and letting us learn from having a glimpse of what God is revealing to you through this trial. Putting things in the proper perspective is a big part of the "daily dying to self". Thanks for the real reminder to focus on the important, not the urgent. As I have heard T Byrd often say, "Today, right now, is a gift - that's why it's called "the present". We love you and we are fighting with you. Press on...
