The First Day of School

Joshua went back to school on Tuesday. He was super-excited to be going back, picked out his clothes, had his school day breakfast, and along with his monkey-lunch box, trotted into his Mother's Day Out program. He had a great day, although there was apparently an incident involving his new friend Parker and an Elmo toy and some difficulty in sleeping on his big boy mat for nap time.

As for mommy and daddy, we never thought we would be "those parents" - you know, the ones that cry when the kids leave them, who remark about how empty and quiet the house feels, the ones who show up early to pick him up because they know their kid can't possibly exist without them, even for a few hours. Guess what? WE ARE THEM! I guess that's just part of growing up, for him and for us.

So cute! I'm glad he had a good day. T$ started her first day on Tuesday, as well. Her teacher said only 2 of the kids actually fell asleep. This "learning to sleep on a mat" thing is difficult. I hope he enjoys it again next week.

Joshua Kelley!

Man, I keep missing you! I've been going to the clinic in the afternoons since MTSU started, and the nurses always tell me how 'one of my favorite boys was here earlier in the morning.' It's such a sad time for me to hear the news that I'm missing you by a few hours...I wish I could skip organic and quant to come play with some trucks or build a lincoln logs with you...I hope you are doing well. I think about you often and believe it or not you continue to be one of my inspirations Josh. You're keeping my spirits high...especially when I am in those organic chemistry and quant classes. :(

Hope to see you and the family sometime soon! Have fun at school!

Those pics are precious! I'm so glad that he loved school and I think it seems pretty normal to cry when you drop him off...just the beginning of many more school drop offs! :)

how sweet! i work at a mother's day out kind of a program, and YES...falling asleep on a mat is a challenge for the new kids. one day he'll love it though! i'm sure. AND...it's ok to be that kind of parent. much better than the kind who always shows up late! =)

I can't believe it. I miss a few days and Joshua is in school. Glory Be!!! I know he had fun and you didn't. But you'll get used to it-in time. Enjoy your precious baby girl for it won't be long until she is ready for "school," too. God bless you as your family continues to be in my thoughts and prayers. Love, in Christ, Joan
