Emergency Room

After 5 wonderful nights at home, we are sitting in the ER again. Joshua's temperature started to climb at around 6pm tonight and by the time we reached the hospital, it hit 102.7. It feels strange for this to be normal and to be prepared for this event. We had bags and toys packed and were in the car before the doctor could call us back. We walked into the ER and went through all the regular steps of signing papers, taking vital signs, and telling our story. The thing we can't seem to understand as normal is the waiting. After 4 hours we still knew nothing about our status here at the hospital.

Finally, after 5 hours, we know that Joshua's counts are good and they are letting us go home after a few more tests and some antibiotics. We will, of course, go into the clinic tomorrow. Most likely, we will start the "hard stuff" and will get a few more checks on what is causing the fever. Hopefully, we will be home tonight by around 2am and in the clinic tomorrow by 9am.

As normal as any of this may seem from time to time, it still takes a huge tole on our emotions, and obviously, our sleep.

I was helping Sterling put his pajamas on the other night, and we were talking about how we needed to ask God to help Landry feel better. And Sterling raised his arm, pointing his finger very directly at my face and said "And for Joshua too. Yeah. God can make Joshua feel better. Yeah. That'd be a good idea."

Love you guys. Praying for all of you.

I found this page through a friend's website, and reading this blog has been absolutely inspirational. Your faith in God and strength during such hard times is absolutely amazing. You guys are such wonderful parents to this beautiful child, and I know that God is watching over your family and He will continue to bless you throughout this difficult process.

We had to take MAx to the ER and he ended up in the hospital for four days. I know that seems like childs play but I know how hard it was on Kim and I and I can't begin to imagin what you are feeling. Lor dI pray that you would send your peace that passes all understanding to the Kelly's right now.

Joshua, you are always in our prayers! I'm Aaron and I'm 3 and I have A.L.L. also. I am in my first phase after induction and I too just spent 11 days in the hospital. I had a cough so I didn't get to go to the play room at all. But the nurses and child life came and brought me lots of toys to play with. If you want to you can go and read my blog. juarezwarriors8.blogspot.com/ It was your blog that inspired my mommie to write me one! Thank you for touching our lives and always remember GOD NEVER LEAVES:O) in my prayers, Aaron

I got your info from Treasure Brasher. As I scrolled down through the pictures of Joshua, the first one took my breath away!! Your little angel looks so much like our grandson who is also two. His parents keep his hair cut short because they like it that way. But, the similarities in facial features really hit home with me, because I instantly felt your pain. I thought, "This type of illness could hit even our own grandson." I will pray for each of you and ask for God's continued strength to deal with all that is involved with this disease. Thanks for sharing the information about your son's illness and esp. the sharings from your heart. May God bless you!
