New Knives? What Was I Thinking?

I chopped off the tip of my thumb tonight. (I know some of you are not surprised.) It hurt, but not nearly as much as I thought it would as soon as it happened.  When it wouldn't stop bleeding, I decided I should probably have someone look at it. After a not-so-thorough examination at the CVS Minute Clinic it was determined that some gauze and antiseptic spray would do the job. I'm guessing it will take a long time for this one to heal. So, next time you see me, give me a thumbs-up because I'll sure be giving one right back.

At least it wasn't the middle finger. No good on this one. War wounds from the kitchen.

Who would buy someone such sharp knives?

I've sliced mine 3 times already, but all my fingers are still their original length. Sorry about that. :)

Forgot to ask...what were you cutting?

Noelle -- It was an onion, but no blood got into the food. Whew!

Sarah -- thanks for finding the silver lining. The middle finger would have been a lot more difficult to explain.

If it makes you feel any better (which I'm sure it won't), I sliced my fingernail off last night. I, too, have a new knife and started doing the chop-chop thing (as if I'm a professional chef....I like to pretend), and off went the nail.
The bandage looks nice. I dare you to ask someone to sign it.

Ouch...sadly this is the second post today I've read about someone chopping the end of their finger. Makes me think twice about wanting new knives. Hope it feels better soon!

Oh, Jana...I'm really so sorry this happened. I am praying for you to heal really quickly. Remember that time last year when I stuck a butcher knife through the palm of my hand? I'm thinking of it right now as I think of you and my stomach is getting queasy...
Well, just know, I feel your pain! :(

hahahaha this picture cracks me up. you should have taken a picture of it RIGHT when you got home from the minute clinic. i think there was much more gauze that night. you've got to milk the sympathy for all it's worth, girl. :) glad that we live close so that i could come to the rescue. :) and NO, i hope that you DON'T have to return this favor. i really really really don't want to chop off part of my thumb. :)
